A.R.Rahman is currently the most successful and acclaimed music composer still operating in Bollywood. He has 13 Filmfare Awards and has been crowned Best Music Director for the past 3 years and is looking odds on to gain his fourth award in a row for the brilliant soundtrack of Delhi-6. He has given us such jewels as Dil Se, Roja, Lagaan, Saathiya,…etc, but he is such a prolific and a perfectionist that there are a number of albums he provided music for that were not very successful commercially or critically. The reason these were not as acclaimed as his other masterpieces may be down to publicity and marketing or purely because they were too much to handle for the audience! This is my first post and hopefully a lot more will follow. I am a huge Bollywood fan and its fiercest advocate. I have been watching Bollywood movies since I was a small child. I also listen to a fair amount of Bollywood music. But Indian cinema has always been very underrated. It’s true that there is a lot of garbage which comes out of Bollywood, nevertheless a significant number of Indian films have been as good as anything out there. I will try to maintain a constant output of reviews of movies and music so that fans like me can enjoy the best that Bollywood can offer. From time to time, I will throw in some old classics for the nostalgic as well as give more exposure to the unheralded.
I would just like to ask everyone to enjoy the site and offer their views wherever they want to, but to also keep in mind that this site contains my subjective views and that you have the right not to agree with me. After all, if we all had the same tastes, the world would be very dull indeed.
